Despite budget concerns, Pender County teachers ready for school year
Even with budget concerns on their minds, teachers and staff kicked off the new school year. Hundreds of educators gathered to ring in the year with a celebration at Topsail High School.
Teachers said it is time to get on with the job at hand. “I have a job to do and regardless of the money I’m going to do the best job I can and hope those kids don’t notice it. I’m not going to skip a beat. I’m ready to start,” said Rebekah King a Heide Trask High School teacher.
Malpass Corner Elementary teacher Cathy Claris said, “This convocation was exactly what we needed because it brings the joy back into teaching and the fact that it is fun and not about money and budget.”
The first day of class for Pender County is Wednesday.
