Update: Disaster Recovery Center in Columbus County to close next week

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Earlier today, FEMA announced the FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center in Columbus County will close this week.

Later this afternoon, they sent another news release, saying the center at the Employment Security Commission on Jefferson Street in Whiteville will remain open through 6 p.m. on December 21.

FEMA and the state say visits to the center have decreased, so the agencies will move resources to other centers in counties affected by Hurricane Matthew.
