Dispatch: Woman shot in Independence Mall parking lot

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A 23-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after she was shot in the parking lot of Independence Mall.

According to New Hanover County Dispatch, the call came in around 1:30 p.m. Saturday. It happened near Ruby Tuesday’s on Oleander Drive.

Cathryn Lindsay, a spokeswoman with Wilmington Police, says officials are still investigating. Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

Lindsay says she was transported by EMS to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
