Diverging Diamond has smooth start Monday morning

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Diverging Diamond interchange in Leland is finally complete and Monday was the first chance for the morning work rush to try out the new traffic pattern.

Things ran pretty smoothly in the morning. There were no serious traffic back-ups. There were some slight delays coming from Belville heading to Leland and some traffic getting onto the Causeway, but it seemed people were able to easily navigate the Diverging Diamond on their morning commute.

“I think it’s a headache, but I think everybody will figure it out and I think it will be good,” commute Roy Carroll said.

The interchange was supposed to open this morning, but it opened yesterday afternoon instead giving drivers a chance to check it out before the morning rush.
