D.J. Mason signs with Campbell Camels

WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) — Thursday marked the first day of another slew of national letter of intent signings across our region. West Bladen senior basketball standout D.J. Mason heads the contingent of signees on Thursday. Mason signed with the Campbell University Camels on Thursday afternoon.

Mason averaged over 20 points per game for West Bladen as a junior. West Bladen reached the 2-A Eastern Regional semi-finals last season before losing by two points to eventual state-runner-up Pittsboro Northwood under head coach Ken Cross. Travis Pait is entering his first season as the West Bladen head boys basketball coach. Ken Cross is now the head coach at arch-rival East Bladen.

Mason is a 6-5 versatile forward from Clarkton. Mason played on the Wilmington based Flight 22 Blizzard Athletics AAU basketball team this past summer. UNCW graduate Nathan Faulk is the head coach of Flight 22.
