Dog shot in the head in Columbus County


TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case of animal cruelty after a German Shepard was shot in the head.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, it happened Monday on James Street Road in Tabor City.

Donald Murphy, 50, came home to find his dog lying in the middle of Pine Circle Drive, which is one street over.

The sheriff’s office says while Murphy was at work, the dog dug a hole underneath his fence and escaped. There is no suspect information at this time.
