Domestic violence center seeking entries for chili cook-off

WILMINGTON — Do have what you think is an award-winning chili recipe? If so, you can win some big prizes and help a good cause at the same time.

Wilmington’s domestic violence shelter is seeking entries to its 21st annual chili cook-off.
The contest is Saturday, October 27 at Hugh McRae park.

There are $3,000 in cash prizes including $1,000 for the best chili. All proceeds benefit the domestic violence shelter and its programs.

Diane Lomax with Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, Inc. said, “The proceeds from the chili cook-off will provide additional support as far maintaining shelter, awareness programs, education to victims and their families who are victims of domestic violence.”

To enter the chili cook-off call Bill Rhodes at 763-6216. There is a $50 entry fee.

You can attend the cook-off for free. Sampling the chili costs $5.
