Dosher Memorial Hospital unveils new electric shuttle service
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) – Goodbye golf cart, hello electric car.
Patients and visitors at Dosher Memorial Hospital can now get a ride to and from the hospital parking lot across Fodale Avenue in a new ride, thanks to the Dosher Volunteers.
The four-seat electric car has a heater, headlights and tail lights, windshield wiper, seatbelts, and a flashing safety light. The new 2017 Polaris model GEM e4 replaces a golf cart which had been in service for five years.
Volunteers operate the shuttle service 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. weekdays.
The Dosher Volunteers are an independent group of close to 200 women and men supporting the hospital through a variety of services since 1972.
