Downtown construction crane to ride out Matthew

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A construction crane towering about the downtown Wilmington riverfront will ride out any effects of Hurricane Matthew… for now.

The crane is helping build the Embassy Suites hotel next to the Wilmington Convention Center.

A Wilmington city spokeswoman tells WWAY the contractor does not plan to remove the crane at this time. The company is, she says, taking precautions and monitoring in case the situation changes.
