Downtown cleans up quickly after July Fourth celebration
WILMINGTON — From the looks of downtown Wilmington Thursday you’d never know the streets had been teeming with people the night before.
Besides tables being disassembled along the waterfront, there were few signs of the Independence Day celebration.
People who work downtown said, despite the crowds, there wasn’t much litter left over.
Kelly McKee is visiting for the holiday. She says she was surprised at how quickly cleanup crews hit the streets.
McKee said, “They were down on the street with the cleaners cleaning the street even before we left our condo to go out at night. This morning we haven’t seen any trash on the road at all so they’ve done a really good job.”
People Wednesday night seemed to behave themselves as well. The Wilmington Police Department reports no arrests directly related to the downtown festivities.
