Downtown Convention Center is open

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The wait is finally over. The Downtown Convention Center is open and ready for business. More than 100,000 square feet, the facility is one of the largest of its kind on the North Carolina coast. With several meeting rooms, lots of outdoor space, and a spacious parking deck, the center will be able to accommodate any business or corporation.

“The Convention Center is absolutely amazing. It’s the best thing that has ever happened to the eastern part of the state. It’s going to bring in a lot of new clientele, new hotel business, new commerce for the downtown area and the town of Wilmington in general,” said Brian Mcartan, Convention Audio/Visual Provider.

The first event will be Sunday when the Convention Center hosts the Cape Fear Wedding Show. Over 120 exhibitors and 1,200 attendees are expected.
