DREAM COME TRUE: Teen granted wish to go to Key West with family

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Kids have their biggest dreams granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

For one child in Columbus County he wanted time to relax and spend time with his family.

Zachary Inman was diagnosed with a heart condition when he was younger. He’s been undergoing treatment for years.

Make-A-Wish surprised him Monday by granting his wish to go to Key West, Florida next week.

“I thought we were coming here to take a picture for a brochure for the hospital cause I’ve already been in a commercial and then all of my favorite people are out here and screaming at me,” Inman said.

Inman was diagnosed with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, but that doesn’t stop him from laughing and helping others. His mom Wendy Duncan absolutely loves that.

“He is one of the strongest people that I’ve ever met,” Duncan said. “When it comes to having something thrown at you at thirteen years old, this kid has been nothing but positive, outgoing, wants to make a difference in life and I’m really proud of him for that.”

He’s going deep sea fishing, jet skiing, dolphin watching and more, all with his loved ones.

“I didn’t think they would give a wish to some dude in Columbus County, but they did and I’m happy,” Inman said.

Columbus Regional Healthcare System is sponsoring his wish.

Inman will spend six days in Key West.
