DREAMS raises money at Thalian Hall for new facility

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Community residents are joining together to help make dreams come true.

The DREAMSN Center for Arts Education held a fundraiser banquet to help raise money for their new facility. It was a night full of dancing, art, eating and fun at Thalian Hall.

The DREAMS program is planning to open a new state-of-the-art facility where children can come and learn the arts in downtown Wilmington. DREAMS executive director Tracy Wilkes says it’s all about the kids.

“The city gave us this fabulous, beautiful building, which interesting enough was a WPA project, so we feel like we are reclaiming a building and a neighborhood and we like to think we are in the business of reclaiming lives,” said Wilkes.

The DREAMS program is planning to open the new facility in June 2011.
