Driver cited for wrecking Davidson Co. school bus
LEXINGTON, NC (AP) — A school bus driver in Davidson County
who overturned a bus with students on board has been cited by the
North Carolina Highway Patrol and suspended from her job without
pay.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that Cheryl Allred was
charged with exceeding a safe speed. Investigators said the bus was
moving at 45 mph on a curve that has a recommended speed limit of
40.
The bus ran off the right side of the road, turned over on its
side and landed in a small ditch Friday afternoon.
The driver and 22 students from Central Davidson High School and
Middle School were taken to the hospital.
A school spokeswoman said the injuries were not life
threatening.
