Driver identified in deadly crash

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The identity of the man who was killed in a single-car crash Monday has been released.

Wilmington police say Timothy Nixon, 30, died in the wreck in the 1700 block of Carolina Beach road around 1:00 a.m. Monday. Police say Nixon hit a median and utility pole before flipping several times.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash; there’s no word on whether alcohol or any other factors contributed to the wreck.
