Driver involved in crash with train cited, arrested

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Wilmington police gave the driver of the SUV who crashed into a Wilmington train a citation.

Police say Rodney Tryone Black, 48, was ticketed for unsafe movement and expired registration.

Police say it happened just before 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night in the area of Clay Street.  Police say it appears Black was trying to beat the arm at the train crossing.

The train’s cars were backed up to Market Street, causing the cross-arms to block the road, according to officials.

Police say Black was arrested on two unrelated warrants.

No one got hurt.
