Driver suffers medical episode, crashes school bus

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A school bus driver was taken to the hospital after crashing a bus on Carolina Beach Road this morning.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Jerry Brewer says the driver suffered some sort of severe medical episode, which led to the crash. The driver hit a road sign; the bus was not damaged.

Sgt. Brewer says the EMS workers revived the driver, bringing him back to life.

The driver has been identified as Terrance Hines. He is listed in serious condition. There were no students on the bus.

The accident happened this morning on Carolina Beach Road near Horn Road in front of Martin Storage.
