Driver taken to hospital after tractor-trailer overturns in Belville

BELVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A truck driver was taken to the hospital after a tractor-trailer overturned on NC 133 in Brunswick County Monday morning.

The accident happened just after 9 a.m. near the Hawkeswater Villages subdivision just past Belville Elementary south of US 17/74/76. The truck is blocking the southbound lane.

It appears that the truck took out a speed limit sign just as he veered off into the ditch, but there’s no word yet on a cause. Highway Patrol does not know the extent of the driver’s injuries.

We’re waiting to hear back from troopers for more information on the driver’s condition.
