Driver plows into Sleep Inn

Time: 1:17 a.m. – Friday morning
Location: 5225 Market Street
Offense: DWI

Summary: Officers responded to The Sleep Inn where a truck had crashed into the building. The driver, Russell Dane Crown, Jr., d.o.b. 7-12-1989, said that he blacked out.

Crown did not have any alcohol in his system, but officers were able to determine that he had been “huffing” from two aerosol cans he bought a short time before the crash.

Crown was charged with Driving While Impaired. He was treated for facial cuts at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and later was released to the custody of his parents.
