Drought conditions worsen across state
Governor Easley says there’s not enough water in the state — period.
He warns that current drought conditions in North Carolina are worse now than this same time a year ago.
The latest drought map shows 14 western counties in exceptional drought. That’s twice the number from last week.
Unless there is significant rainfall soon, the state could face a more serious situation than in 2007.
Right now 97 of the state’s 100 counties are in some level of drought.
Our region is in a moderate drought.
