DTV switch coming Monday
The countdown is almost over. We are less than one day away from the switch to digital television. Our area is the first in the country to make the switch. There are some people that still need to set up their converter boxes before those rabbit ears stop working.
Dish Network was out on Sunday answering questions and handing out converter boxes.
Tina Baysden had her converter box installed and she said it is easy to see the improvement from analog to digital.
Tina said, “Since I had the box installed I can tell that I got better reception and everything. Without the converter box and whatever, I wouldn’t be able to get the reception and whatever.”
Installing the converter box is as easy, and Dish Network’s Francie Bauer says digital T.V. may bring more than just a clearer picture.
Francie said, “Not only does it bring a crystal clear picture, but with our box we have an on screen programming guide. So they can actually see the channels on their screen versus having to go to a newspaper.
For those that use an antenna and still do not have a converter box, it is not too late. You can still buy new boxes after Monday’s switch.
If you still have rabbit ears by tomorrow at noon, your television set will not work. You will need a converter box. If you have a government coupon for one, make sure you watch the expiration date. Coupons expire 90 days from the day they were mailed.
