Man accused of killing witness rejects plea deals

BURGAW, NC (StarNewsOnline) — A Duplin County man accused of killing a state’s witness in a Wilmington murder case pending against him rejected plea bargains in both cases Thursday, leaving open the potential that he could be tried for his life in the witness killing.

Nashid Porter, 37, said he wanted the case to go to trial – just with a different attorney who wasn’t “pushing” him to take a plea bargain.

“I’ve always been for trial, and she’s always coming to me with plea bargains,” he said.
