Durham group warns speeders with paintball guns
Some folks in Durham are warning motorists to slow down in their neighborhood or consider going to a body shop.
The group known as Angry Neighbors with Paintball Guns is fed up with what it calls Durham’s inability or unwillingness to deal with speeders. So the group has posted these signs throughout the city warning motorists that it is enforcing the speed limit with paintball guns.
The group said drivers who do not get off the gas will be shot. “We’re trying our hardest to slow down speeders,” said Moe Rivera of Angry Neighbors with Paintball Guns. “The city has been working with us. We want people to be mindful of how fast they’re going.”
Police in Durham are painting a different picture for the group. They said the signs could be a distraction to drivers and that it is a crime to shoot a paintball at a vehicle.
People in one neighborhood said they like the signs because they bring attention to the problem.
