E-cigarettes banned in New Hanover County buildings; vehicles

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC, (WWAY) — Electronic cigarettes are banned from all New Hanover County facilities by an amended ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners.

Under the amended ordinance, e-cigarette use is no longer allowed in all vehicles and buildings owned, occupied, or leased to New Hanover County where smoking or use of tobacco products is prohibited. Use of the product will also be prohibited within 50 feet of any public entrance to County facilities.

Violators of the e-cigarette prohibition face a civil fine of $100 per offense.
