Eagle Island to possibly get federal funds

One of the last untouched islands in North Carolina may get some federal funds for preservation.

A meeting on Thursday focused on the future of Eagle Island in Wilmington.

Conservationists are hoping to get a grant from Congress to protect nearly 250 acres on its northern end.

The land will likely be used for hunting, kayaking, and maybe camping. The next public meeting is Saturday, February 7th at 9:00am at Cape Fear River Watch in Wilmington.
