Early voting numbers vary by county

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Early voting for the June 22 run-off elections is doing better than expected in a few counties, but for some the turn out is disappointing.

In Bladen, Columbus and Brunswick Counties the elections offices are seeing drastically low numbers. Not one of the counties has had more than 60 ballots cast.

New Hanover and Bladen, though, have had a steady stream of voters who are casting their ballot for the run-off. Election workers in New Hanover County say their amazed by the turn-out so far.

“Actually we’re excited about the turn-out, because usually on primary run-offs we don’t get a great lot of people, but this time we’ve seen over 500, and we’re excited about that,” Shirley Mazzeo said.

One Stop early voting continues until June 19.
