Edwards in third place on fund-raising
CHAPEL HILL (AP) — Democrat John Edwards' presidential campaign says it has raised more than $9 million in the second quarter.
Although the total puts Edwards in third place, his campaign says Edwards has gotten support from every-day Americans and not lobbyists. Edwards says his campaign is on track to raise $40 million by January when the Iowa caucuses are held.
Senator Barack Obama also reported yesterday that his campaign raised at least $32.5 million from April through June. The amount is a record for a Democratic candidate.
Obama's total is about $5 million more than what rival Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has said she would raise for the reporting period.
