Edwards rolls out education policy
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is rolling out a policy to reform the nation's primary education.
The former North Carolina senator has proposed paying teachers up to $15,000 more in high poverty areas and initiating universal preschool.
Edwards will detail his plans this afternoon at a Des Moines middle school.
A copy of the policy statement was provided to The Associated Press.
Edwards says giving all children an equal chance to get a quality education is a commitment that is the core of his plan to build One America "where everyone has a chance to succeed."
