Edwards to air first TV ad in Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is airing his first television ad in Iowa today.
The former North Carolina senator calls on Democrats to be a voice for working people.
The 60-second spot is titled “Heroes,” Edwards says it’s time for the Democratic Party to represent America’s working men and women.
Edwards says if Democrats don’t represent working Americans, they’ll never have a voice.
He also talks about his wife, Elizabeth, who has incurable breast cancer. Edwards says after 12 hours of tests and getting the news they decided to try to be that voice for regular Americans.
The ad includes images of what he refers to as real heroes: a waitress pouring coffee, a woman kissing a young boy, a nurse assisting a hospital patient, a man on a tractor and others.
