Man known as “Thuggy” arrested on drug, weapon charges
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man known as “Thuggy” was arrested after the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office and NC Probation and Parole officers searched his home and found weapons and drugs.
It happened Monday night in the 2000 block of Twisted Hickory Road in Elizabethtown.
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office says narcotic agents, a K-9 unit and officers helped search the home, which was known to those dealing and buying drugs as “The Tree.”
Deputies arrested Terrell Monquiel Shipman, aka “Thuggy”, 39, of the same address.
Several weapons were seized as well as marijuana.
Shipman was charged with the following:
- five counts of possession of a firearm by a felon
- one count of possession of a stolen firearm
- one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana
- one count of possession of marijuana
- two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shipman’s bond was set at $505,000.
He is being held in the Bladen County Detention Center. The weapon recovered was reported stolen in Cumberland County in 2010.
“Sadly, weapons and drugs seem to go hand in hand,” said Sheriff Jim McVicker. “It is not unusual for us to find stolen weapons in the possession of drug dealers who will take them in trade for the narcotics they are selling. Once a weapon is entered into the system as stolen it is never purged, meaning it will stay there until located. We have to have a make, model and serial number to enter a weapon. This is why it is so important for gun owners to keep a record of their weapons. This gun was on the street for almost 8 years and now it can be returned to its rightful owner when the case is disposed of in court.”
