Elizabethtown Police investigate crash that killed two

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — Elizabethtown Police are investigating a single-car crash that killed two people overnight.

Lt. Mark McMichael with the Elizabethtown Police Department said it happened in the 2000 block of MLK Drive around 12:30 a.m.

McMichael said the vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree, then caught on fire. He said one person was ejected from the vehicle and the other stayed inside.

McMichael said the police department is still investigating and are not releasing the names of the people in the vehicle at this time.
