Elon creates committee to examine vendor policy after nonbinding student vote on Chick-fil-A
ELON, NC (AP) — Elon University is creating a committee to study the school’s relationship with its vendors, including restaurants like Chick-fil-A.
The announcement came after the university’s Student Government Association voted earlier this month to recommend that Chick-fil-A no longer sell food on campus because of the stance of the president of the restaurant chain against gay marriage.
Elon spokesman Dan Anderson told the Times-News of Burlington that the committee will examine what Elon’s relationship should be with vendors on campus. It will make a recommendation to university trustees, who will write a policy.
Those trustees will then apply the policy to Chick-fil-A and other businesses on campus.
Elon’s Student Government Association voted in a nonbinding resolution 35-11 earlier this month to ask for another restaurant take Chick-fil-A’s place.
