Emergency management monitoring river levels after heavy rains
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Heavy rain over the past several days has been flooding the area and emergency management crews in Pender County are monitoring rivers basins.
Tommy Batson with Pender County Emergency Management says as of Tuesday at noon, many spots were extremely saturated with rainwater.
Batson added that all the rivers, creeks and streams are at full capacity. He says the rivers are rising.
However, his office doesn’t expect any major effects at this time. He says they will continue to monitor the situation throughout the week.
One area of concern are homes in the Riverbend Subdivision located off Highway 53, west of Burgaw.
