Eshelman joins NC Entrepreneur Hall of Fame

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The founder of one of Wilmington’s biggest businesses was honored today for his accomplishments.

The fourth North Carolina Entrepreneur Summit wrapped up today at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside Hilton. The event focused on the keys to North Carolina’s economic future.

PPD Executive Chairman Fred Eshelman was inducted into the North Carolina Entrepreneur Hall of Fame. Eshelman attributes much of his success to our area.

“I am so fortunate that I ended up in Wilmington, NC, because there have been so many people in this community who have helped me in so many different ways over the years,” he said. “I probably would not have enjoyed this success if I ended up somewhere else.”

Eshelman started PPD in 1985. The company now employs more than 10,000 in 42 countries around the world.
