Express YMCA celebrates 1 year

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) —  The Wilmington family YMCA is celebrating the one year anniversary of its Express Y on Kerr Avenue.

The Express Y has housed the YMCA’s Health and Wellness programs since a fire caused around $3 million in damages at their main location on Market Street in February 2015. To celebrate the anniversary of the Express Y, they have opened their doors for everyone to come try the Y for free Wednesday. They’re open until 10 p.m.

Plans are underway to rebuild the YMCA’s main location, but the Express Y will continue to be available to serve the community until renovations are complete.
