Fair provides families with community resources
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Families in Brunswick County got an opportunity, Saturday, to talk to and learn about the area’s resources and services.
This is the second year the county’s cooperative extension office has hosted the event. Children and parents learned about healthcare, school programs and even got a chance to register to vote. Organizer Alicia Jenkins, NC Cooperative Extension said the fair shows parents that they have support in the community.
“A lot of times, parents run into some situations with DSS or the court system that could be avoided if only they knew about resources and they would just reach out for help,” Jenkins said.
Health care workers were also on scene to provide last minute immunizations to kids before school starts. Kids were also provided with school supplies after learning about the different organizations.
