Fall barbecue festival moved back to 2008

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A festival which was intended to bring the Eastern and Lexington barbecue styles together in one place this fall has been postponed until 2008.

It was scheduled for October in Raleigh. No new date has been set and no reason was given for the change.

The N.C. Barbecue Society planned the event with the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, and both groups have agreed to a postponement. An event spokesman says the festival had lined up 30 participants and had arranged for judges from both sides of the state.

For now, barbecue lovers still have their choice — the Lexington Barbecue Festival is Oct. 27, while Charlottes Blues, Brews and Barbecue, which is part of Charlotte Shout, is Sept. 14 and 15.
