Family and supporters gather at vigil for man found dead near Greenfield Lake

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have released new details in the death of a man whose body was found near Greenfield Lake.

Investigators say Dillon Morris, 20, of Wilmington was found in a ravine along E. Lake Shore Drive Saturday. Police say his death has now been ruled a homicide because detectives say Morris was shot to death.

Friends and family gathered at a vigil near Greenfield Lake to remember Morris and support those closest to him.

“I’m lost for words.” Said Antwon Hansley, a friend. “I barely know what to say. You know what I’m saying.”

Flowers now mark the spot where his body was found. Friends and supporters say they don’t understand why it happened but say that they’re determined to help Morris’s memory live on.

Police say there is no further information at this time as this is an on-going investigation.
