Family, friends identify fire victims

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The medical examiner in North Carolina says it will take some time to identify the seven college students killed in a house fire at Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.

But The Associated Press has confirmed several identities through relatives and close friends.

Eighteen-year-old University of South Carolina freshman Lauren Mahon was from Simpsonville. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Nineteen-year-old sophomore Allison Walden was from Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She was also a member of the sorority at USC.

Eighteen-year-old freshman Cassidy Pendley was from North Charleston. She was also a member of the USC sorority.

Eighteen-year-old freshman Will Rhea was from Florence. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at USC.

Nineteen-year-old sophomore Justin Anderson was from Greenville. He was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at USC.

One other USC student and a Clemson University student died in the fire.
