Local cookbook author Fanny Slater shares cookbook inpsiration
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington local, Fanny Slater, is catching national attention for her recently released cookbook.
Slater’s cookbook, “Orange, Lavender, and Figs”, recently won Rachael Ray’s “Great American Cookbook Competition”. Slater is an author, Food Writer, Recipe Developer, and Fanfare CEO.
She tells us, it was her grandmother who convinced her to enter the competition. Slater says, “My grandmother, who is almost 89-years-old, sent me a text saying that Rachael Ray was holding a ‘Great American Cookbook Competition’, and that I should think about entering.”
Slater says she had to send in some recipes, a submission video, and a concept. Slater’s idea, “Taste like Childhood”, is her spin on foods and memories from her childhood. She adds, they’re not just recipes, but stories as well.
Slater will be signing copies of her book from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16. The signing will be held at Goat & Compass 710 N. 4th Street Wilmington.
