Fans fill bars to watch Super Bowl 50

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Panthers fans were out in full force to cheer on the team at Dig and Dive Sports Bar.

“These are not just Panther’s fans, these are friends, these are our people and that’s why we’re here,” said spectator Wyatt Hartline.

While teal and black filled the bar, one or two Broncos fans could be spotted in the crowd, but it was definitely Panthers territory — even for non-native North Carolinians like Gabe Wiesch.

“I’m here from New York to celebrate the Panthers winning the Super Bowl. The Bills did not make the Super Bowl or the playoffs, so my second team is the Panthers.”

Though nervous energy filled the air, fans said they weren’t worried about the close game.

“It’s gonna be close, this is a good game, this is the Super Bowl,” Hartline said.
