Father, daughter plead guilty to federal health care fraud charges

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man and his daughter have pleaded guilty to federal charges after prosecutors say they used several medical practices they owned to submit fake bills to Medicare and Medicaid.

Roy Creasy pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit health care fraud. His daughter Tamala Creasy Newton admitted to 13 counts of aiding and abetting health care fraud, one count of conspiring to commit health care fraud, four counts of mail fraud and one count of identity theft.

Creasy faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Newton faces decades in prison and millions of dollars in fines. Sentencing is set for October 4.
