Fayetteville police officer recovering after car crash

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A Fayetteville police officer is
recovering from injuries suffered in a car crash while responding
to a report of a breaking and entering.

Police spokesman Gavin MacRoberts says Officer Donnie Smith was
taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after the Friday morning
wreck. MacRoberts says the officer’s injuries are minor.

Smith and another police officer were responding to a call when
another driver turned left in front of their cruiser. Smith swerved
to avoid hitting the car, and hit a tree. The other police officer
was not injured.

No charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
