Federal funding for North Carolina beaches

More than $18 million in federal funds will go to south eastern North Carolina beaches.

Several projects have been approved by the house appropriations committee for the 2009 budget, according to local congressman Mike McIntyre.

Some of the biggest undertakings include maintenance dredging at the Wilmington harbor and funding for further construction there.
