Festival delayed after speaker fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Saturday was the first annual Big and Strong or Grande y Fuerte- ‘Music with Life’ festival in Wilmington.

But, the event was delayed hours after speakers caught on fire.

The sound technician told WWAY the initial generator was not working so more power was added but it, it was too much. Two speakers caught on fire.

The festival was able to continue so,  Amigos Internacional came together in unity to get the event back up and running by the afternoon.

Local artists, bands and choirs performed until dusk in Ogden Park.

Food vendors also were in the park. Tacos were a crowd favorite.
