Festival looks to raise money for local animal rescue groups

You don’t often get the chance to throw something at a police chief or mayor, but this weekend at Carolina Beach, you can do just that.

It is part of the first ever Salty Paws Festival; a fundraiser for local animal rescue groups.

“We need help so bad right now. There are so many people losing homes, passing away and made no accommodations for their pets,” said Saving Animals During Disasters’ Jeannie Mintz. “So Saturday, with the dunking both, we hope to have everyone throwing balls at the chief of police and town manager.”

Leashed pets are welcomed. You can also take your pet and get it micro-chipped for only $25.

If you want to go, it is Saturday at the Carolina Beach Lake from noon until 5:00 p.m.
