Undefeated Hoggard met undefeated New Bern on Friday night in the 4-A East Finals. New Bern scored on the first play from the scrimmage and the Bears never looked back. Check out our game highlights of New Bern's win along with Wallace-Rose Hill's victory over James Kenan.
The Hoggard Vikings will hit the road on Friday to face the New Bern Bears in the eastern title game for 4-A football. Both teams enter the game undefeated. The winner will advance to the state finals on Friday, December 12.
Round 3 high school football state playoff action is complete. Hoggard will be moving onto the east finals after an impressive, but close win over Scotland County. The brackets are now set for round two of the high school football state playoffs. Round two games will be held on November 21. Games are likely to be much closer than some of the outcomes we saw in the first round.

The North Brunswick Scorpions finished the 2014 regular season with a 6-5 record after winning their last two games in convincing fashion. In the regular season finale the Scorpions defeated East Duplin 26-7. We recognized North Brunswick on Wednesday with the WWAY Farm Bureau Insurance at Mayfaire Team of the Week award. It'll be the final team of the week presentation in football this year.
The pairings are now locked in for the 2014 high school football state playoffs. Several area schools have been awarded a home game for first round play. Some teams will have to open on the road. A few of our local football squads missed out on extending their season.
The 2014 high school football regular season concluded on Friday night. Whiteville captured the regular season crown in the Three Rivers Conference. We had highlights from the Wolfpack's win over South Columbus along with coverage from two key matchups in the Four County Conference: Wallace Rose Hill vs. Clinton and East Bladen vs. West Bladen.
