It's been a tough month for Hoggard head football coach Scott Braswell in regard to his health, but Braswell will be on the sidelines on Friday night at the BB&T Jamboree. In fact he'll also coach in the regular season opener before heading to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
The Charlotte Hornets released their upcoming schedule on Wednesday. LeBron James will only make one appearance this season in Charlotte. Monday marked the first day high school football teams could scrimmage other schools before the upcoming season. We went to the scrimmage in Hampstead in order to check out the Topsail Pirates and head coach Wayne Inman. Topsail hosted the East Columbus Gators. Rocky Lewis is the new head coach at East Columbus.

North Brunswick High School has been added to the BB&T Jamboree lineup next month at Legion Stadium. Hoggard High School head football coach and athletics director Scott Braswell will be taking a leave of absence in order to have surgery on a tumor in his lower back. Braswell is entering his 18th season as the head football coach of the Vikings.
