The first week of the high school football regular season is not over yet. The vast majority of the teams had to suspend play due to lightning. Some of the football games will resume on Saturday. Others will be finished on Monday.

Three teams remain alive in the American Legion World Series, but Wilmington Post isn't one of them. Former UNCW & Laney coach Bobby Guthrie will be inducted into the NCHSAA Hall of Fame. Plus more!
The high school football season is here. Despite the rain the BB&T Jamboree was played as scheduled at Legion Stadium in Wilmington on Friday night. Check out the first 5th Quarter of 2013. In baseball Wilmington Post 10 won their opening game at the American Legion World Series. Post 10 will face Louisiana on Saturday in a winner's bracket contest.

There will be two football jamborees in our region on Friday: the BB&T Jamboree in Wilmington and the Buddy Burney Jamboree in Bladen County. West Bladen head coach Russell Dove gave us the scoop on the Bladen Jamboree. We continued our Two-A-Days, plus we had preview material on Post 10 baseball and Hammerheads soccer on Thursday.

On Tuesday WWAY's John Rendleman and Trot Nixon both attended the luncheon for the upcoming BB&T Jamboree. It's not just a scrimmage. It's the unofficial start to the high school football season.
