There will be two football jamborees in our region on Friday: the BB&T Jamboree in Wilmington and the Buddy Burney Jamboree in Bladen County. Post 10 punched a ticket to the American Legion World Series on Monday. Scott Sandlin's squad becomes the first team from Wilmington to advance to the American Legion World Series since 1970. Eight teams will compete for the national title. The tournament begins on Friday in Shelby. Plus more!
With two solid rounds of golf UNCW's Lori Beth Adams has advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Women's Amateur in Charleston. 156 golfers started the competition on Monday, but only 64 will compete in match play. The playoffs start at home on Wednesday for the Wilmington Sharks. Post 10 starts regional play on Thursday in Asheboro. Plus more!
The Wilmington Sharks won 9 of their final 12 games to secure the 3rd seed in the Coastal Plain League baseball playoffs. Wilmington will host a playoff game on Wednesday. UNCW golfer Lori Beth Adams had a solid round in the first round of the U.S. Women's Golf Amateur in Charleston. Plus more!
The Wilmington Hammerheads played one of their best games of the season on Friday night. The Hammerheads knocked off the defending USL Pro champion Charleston Battery at Legion Stadium. Tiger Woods flirted with a 59 on Friday. He settled for a career tying low 61 instead. Plus more!
Wilmington's Cari Blalock finished in 4th place at the US Open Swimming Championships on Thursday. This was the first day of official high school football practice all across the state. The Wilmington Sharks clinched a playoff spot of Thursday. Post 10 needed a comeback in order to win the state title for legion baseball. The Wilmington based squad waited until the ninth inning, but that was enough to hold off Kernersville.
