Fight for $15 plans announcement about next mobilization
DURHAM, NC (AP) — A group that supports a minimum wage of $15 an hour plans to announce its next major mobilization, including several events in North Carolina.
Organizers of Fight for $15 say they’ll announce the mobilization Wednesday at a news conference in Durham. They’ll be accompanied by fast-food workers, home-care workers, students, allies and adjunct faculty.
Fight for $15 started more than two years when 200 cooks and cashiers walked off their jobs in New York City. Supporters want to more than double the federal minimum wage, which is now $7.25 an hour.
